News Release: "Grand Rapids Awnings" Opens Featuring Grand Rapids' Only Awning Showroom
GRAND RAPIDS, MI—Grand Rapids Awnings, a sister company of
Muskegon Awning & Fabrication, has opened at 3150 Plainfield NE, Suite I in
Grand Rapids with the city’s only awning showroom featuring displays of
custom-made awnings, canopies, curtains and covers for homes and businesses.
“We’ve opened Grand Rapids Awnings in order to be more
convenient and accessible to Grand Rapids’ homeowners and business owners,”
said David Bayne, president and owner of both companies. “For over a century
Muskegon Awning & Fabrication has been serving the region and we believe
we’ve lasted this long because of our commitment to providing our customers
with quality products and superior service. As part of that commitment to our
Grand Rapids customers, we’ve opened Grand Rapids Awnings.”
Customers visiting the new company’s showroom not only are
able to see displays of various styles and types of awnings such as motorized
retractable awnings and aluminum window awnings, they’re also able to look at
sample books of fabrics, color swatches and awning hardware.
“We custom make all of our awnings, curtains and covers to
match the customers’ needs and their budgets,” explained Bayne. “We provide
them with a free estimate, offer professional measuring and installation along
with 5, 10 and 15-year warranties and most importantly, we back our work with a
Satisfaction Guarantee.”
Bayne added that while other awning companies outsource many
of their fabrication services, his facility does it all from start to finish in
order to ensure customers of the highest quality.
“We create the designs, do all of the fabrication and use
the latest technology to apply fabric to frame,” he explained.“We have full graphics capabilities to
help customers visualize their new awnings prior to purchase and to help our
commercial customers transform their awnings and canopies into eye-catching
signs.”
According
to the Professional Awning Manufacturing Association (PAMA), awnings, outdoor
curtains and sun shades have grown in popularity in recent years because they
do more than enhance the appearance of a business or home, they also reduce
energy usage, cut utility costs and protect people and property.
Awnings today are
strong, durable and resistant to water, dirt, mold, mildew and sun.
UV-resistant material, used in making awnings and outdoor curtains, is
recommended by the Skin Cancer Foundation. Plus, awnings are more affordable
and flexible than hard construction. Many awnings are motorized with
remote-control units and can extend and retract as needed, at the touch of a
button. Outdoor curtains and industrial curtains can be retracted, rolled up or
moved.
Commercial
awnings and canopies also provide signage and serve as lighted billboards for
businesses. For example, residents of Grand Rapids can see some of the
awnings and canopies made by Muskegon Awning & Fabrication and Grand Rapids
Awnings on the Twisted Rooster, Cascade Commons and Johnny Carinos to name only
a few of many.

Patio Curtains for Homeowners in Grand Rapids, Michigan & Beyond
"We love our new patio curtains and highly recommend Muskegon Awning. They couldn't have been easier to work with and it didn't matter a whit that we lived several states away." Pat & Shawn, Nebraska
We make patio curtains for Michigan homeowners almost everyday. However, it might surprise you to know that we also custom craft patio curtains for homeowners across the country, too.
In this era of advanced communications it's easy for the homeowners to send us online pictures of their homes, exact measurements of their patios or decks and to visually illustrate their wants and needs. In turn, we can show them examples of different products, fabric samples, color selections and more.
The result: Within a matter of weeks, we can deliver to their doors the outdoor curtains, sunshades or outdoor blinds they want to transform their patios, porches and decks into pretty and private outdoor living areas.
Rolling Outdoor Curtains with Snap-Back Ties Convert a Patio into a Sheltered Cabana
Patio Curtains for Nebraska Homeowners
Our Featured Project
The following is a true account of how all-weather curtains were custom made for a family in Nebraska. In the video above they tell in their own words why they chose Muskegon Awning & Fabrication.
The Situation
The Nebraska homeowners wanted to create privacy around a patio and hot tub without the expense and inflexibility of solid construction.
The homeowners wanted patio curtains, outdoor drapes or outdoor blinds...
That wouldn't be too difficult or heavy to use
That would allow them to enclose different sections of the patio at different times based on sunlight, weather and need for privacy
That would be sturdy and durable enough to withstand strong winds and cold winters
That would "blend" with the exterior of the home
In addition, they wanted Personal Service and Expert Guidance from an experienced professional.
The Solution: All-Weather Curtains
with Dual Panels & Snap-Back Straps
On rollers for fast and easy open and close
Dual panels so that "sides" could be closed either fully or partially
Attached with grommets on all sides for secure closure
Light enough for easy use but industrial in strength and durability
Made from weather-resistant, dirt- and mildew-resistant Sunbrella fabric
Designed with "give" to accommodate wind
Color compatible with the home's cedar deck and lattice
The Benefits
Added Privacy--total or partial depending on need
Added Warmth—extending outdoor enjoyment of the seasons>
Added Protection—shade for sunny days and protection from UV rays
Affordability--far less expensive than building walls
Portability-- the outdoor curtains can be taken down and stored or moved
Added Home Value--the patio curtains enhance the appeal and distinction of the home and add value
"We wanted the patio curtains for practical reasons, including affordability,
but we've been surprised at the wonderful ambiance the curtains create.
We feel as if we're relaxing in a romantic beach cabana."
